Our Skincare Ingredients

Our Approach

At Miss Coiffure we believe in a ‘Do No Harm Approach’ to skin care. Our philosophy is akin to how we should care for our health. By putting pure and fresh nutrients into our body we give it ‘clean’ energy derived from nature. Not only do we function better, but we feel better too. Similarly, with Miss Coiffure we prioritize the use of high quality, active ingredients in pharmaceutical grade doses, with minimal preservatives and fillers.

The Miss Coiffure cosmeceutical range aids in supporting the skin, and facilitating the natural processes of the epidermis and dermis (layers of the skin). Many products on the market are designed to traumatize sensitive skin layers, in the hope that new skin will replace the problematic skin. We believe that this radical approach is not necessary, rather cosmeceuticals can be used to ‘feed’ the skin with replenishing nutrients across all skin layers.

Our Ingredients

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is an essential ingredient which stimulates the growth of collagen. Enhanced collagen production can strengthen and tighten the skin, reduce wrinkles and has the ability to increase elastin production which is essential for generating new skin cells and reducing signs of skin damage such as acne scarring.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that promotes cell renewal and reduces the formation of free radicals upon skin exposure to UVA rays and other sources of skin damage. It also protects the epidermis from ultraviolet light damage. Vitamin E promotes collagen production which helps to keep skin youthful, supple and hydrated.

Retinol/Vitamin A

Retinol is an active form of vitamin A and is a potent antioxidant used to interrupt the free-radical damage process that causes skin to age. It stimulates cell turnover, thus acting as a natural exfoliant. By removing dead skin cells, retinol improves skin structure, de-clogs pores and prevents breakouts.

Co-Enzyme Q10

Co-Enzyme Q10 is a naturally occurring substance that facilitates the production of cellular energy in every cell in the body. Factors such as aging, stress, and some medications, can lower the levels of CoQ10, compromising the body’s ability to withstand stress or regenerate. It’s antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties can reduce UV damage, boost skin repair and regeneration and stimulate collagen production to combat wrinkles and fine lines.

Vit B3 / Niacinamide

Niacinamide is the biologically active form of vitamin B3 used to increase ceramide which stimulates microcirculation within the dermis and free fatty acid levels in skin enhancing water retention. Niacinamide has a fast growing reputation for its role in treating uneven skin tones, enhancing the ability to effectively reduce redness and decrease acne.

Peptides

Peptides are fragments of amino acids that have active roles to play in various areas of physiology, including skin health.

Lactic Acid & Glycolic Acid

Lactic Acid & Glycolic Acid have long been used to impede skin aging. Promoting collagen growth, as well as enhancing the smoothness of skin and improving the skin’s overall texture, the long term use of lactic acid and glycolic acid skin care products has been shown to help diminish fine lines, wrinkles, age spots and scars.

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic Acid is a powerful anti-aging ingredient used predominantly in skin care for its ability to attract and retain moisture. Decreased levels of hyaluronic acid cause fine lines and sagging, which naturally occurs as we age. Using hyaluronic acid will stimulate collagen production, increase skin smoothness, diminish the appearance of wrinkles and maintain skin elasticity.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is renowned for its remarkable soothing and restorative healing properties, especially to treat minor skin irritations and burns. It acts as a protective layer on the skins surface, helping to retain and replenish skins moisture. Being highly moisturizing it’s great for use before make-up application to prevent skin from drying and caking.

Chamomile Extract

Chamomile Extract is derived from the flowers of the plant and contains active Flavonoid and Essential Oil compounds, which are particularly advantageous in the care of sensitive skin. Used for the treatment of skin inflammation and irritation (i.e. acne), due to its calming and soothing nature.

Bearberry Extract

Bearberry foliage, the part of the Arctostaphylos uva-ursi plant that is most commonly used in cosmetic formulations, has been shown to effectively scavenge free radicals, the unstable molecules that contribute to the formation of premature wrinkles and fine lines on the skin.

Macadamia Oil

Macadamia Oil contains a number of antioxidants and essential fatty acids that protect the skin and promote healing following certain types of skin damage. It also mimics skin’s natural oils, making it an ideal match for maintaining natural glow.

Avocado Oil

Avocado Oil is a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids and vitamins A, D and E, essential for building healthy skin. These restorative ingredients provide the skin with the nutrients it needs to create and maintain intense moisture levels. Avocado oil is used to soften skin, improve complexion, reduce inflammation, control secretion of sebum and unblock pores.

Avocado Oil

Almond oil is rich in Vitamin E, monounsaturated fatty acids, proteins, potassium and zinc, besides a number of other minerals and vitamins, which explains why it is so good for our heart, skin and hair.
